Today we will discuss what is Systemic Lupus Erythematous (SLE)?

SLE is a chronic inflammation disease that can affect any organ system. It is an autoimmune disease – a type 3 hypersensitivity disorder. It’s cause is unknown. Sufferers have auto antibodies, and immune complexes. There may be a genetic factor involved in developing the disease. There may be a hormonal component, as women are much more likely to develop lupus than men (8 times more common). It is no longer considered to be a form of lycanthropy.
